Amid recent snowfall, tourist arrivals surge in Kashmir’s Aharbal

Amidst a recent heavy snowfall, Aharbal, an enchanting yet lesser-known hill station nestled in the picturesque Kashmir Valley, has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourist arrivals. Renowned for its breathtaking waterfall, often likened to the majestic Niagara Falls, Aharbal has emerged as a magnet for both local residents and visitors from distant lands.

Situated approximately 27 kilometers from Kulgam town in south Kashmir, Aharbal has captivated the hearts of tourists following the recent blanket of snow that enveloped its landscape. An official revealed that last year saw an unprecedented influx of tourists, with a staggering 310,000 visitors flocking to the hill station, marking a remarkable threefold increase compared to previous years.

In response to the burgeoning tourist interest, the Kulgam district administration is gearing up to host a grand winter carnival in the coming days. This festive extravaganza aims to showcase a myriad of activities tailored to entice more tourists to explore the wonders of Aharbal.

Ghalib Mohiuddin Shah, the Chief Executive Officer of Aharbal Development Authority (ADA), expressed his delight at the surge in tourist activity following the recent snowfall. He underscored the positive impact this influx would have on the local economy, particularly the business sector.

Tourists venturing to Aharbal were greeted with mesmerizing vistas of snow-draped trees and mountains, evoking a profound sense of awe and tranquility. Shah reassured visitors that all routes leading to the hill station are now clear of snow, extending a warm invitation to experience the ethereal beauty of this winter wonderland. He also affirmed the availability of ample accommodation and facilities to cater to the needs of both local and visiting tourists.

Aharbal, renowned for its stunning waterfall cascading from the Veshu River, offers a serene sanctuary amidst dense forests and verdant meadows. This natural marvel attracts nature enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and picnickers alike, promising an idyllic retreat in the lap of nature.

The hill station’s lush landscapes and tranquil ambiance provide an ideal backdrop for picnics, trekking expeditions, and leisurely nature walks. Visitors from across the globe are drawn to Aharbal’s enchanting allure, seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life amidst its pristine surroundings.

As Aharbal basks in the aftermath of the recent snowfall, it stands as a testament to the enduring charm of Kashmir’s scenic treasures.
