The Sony World Photography Awards for 2024 have recently unveiled a diverse array of winning images, capturing moments from around the globe that range from an elephant amidst sand in Nepal to a serene diver in Egypt’s calm seas and a child’s Christmas celebration.

Presented by the World Photography Organisation, the winning photographs highlight the photographers’ distinctive styles and creative approaches to the art form, as stated in a press release.

This year’s competition saw an impressive submission of over 395,000 images from numerous countries and territories, spanning various genres such as nature, landscape, architecture, portraiture, and sports.

The winning images, representing both national and regional categories, were captured by photographers residing in 54 different countries, reflecting the international scope of the competition. Notably, the judging process was conducted anonymously by a panel of experts.

Established 11 years ago, the national and regional awards initiative aims to provide support and recognition for photographers of all skill levels while showcasing their accomplishments on a global platform.

The culmination of the Sony World Photography Awards will occur on April 18, with the announcement of winners across categories including student, youth, open, and professional competitions. These winning entries, along with the national and regional award recipients, will be featured in an exhibition at Somerset House in London from April 19 to May 6.

The exhibition will offer viewers a glimpse into the diverse perspectives and storytelling captured by photographers worldwide, showcasing their talents and contributions to the art of photography.
