Traffic disruptions have been observed in certain areas surrounding Delhi as farmers plan to march towards the national capital to protest against land acquisition policies. Despite Delhi Police denying permission for the farmers to enter the city, stringent security measures have been put in place at Delhi borders.
Visuals show heavy traffic congestion on the Delhi-Noida expressway, with police barricades checking each vehicle entering the national capital. Noida Police issued a traffic advisory, warning commuters about route diversions in Noida and Greater Noida, including areas like Dadri, Tilapata, Sirsa, Surajpur, Rampur-Fatehpur, and other routes in Greater Noida. Farmer groups in Noida and Greater Noida have been protesting since December 2023 against land acquisition by local development authorities.
Anticipating traffic disruptions, the Delhi Police Commissionerate issued an advisory outlining restrictions on the Yamuna Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway for the smooth execution of the farmers’ protest program. These restrictions are effective from 7 AM to 10.30 PM.
According to the traffic police advisory, routes from Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15 to Sector-06 Chowki Chowk and from Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk to Harola Chowk will witness traffic rerouting during this time.
Drivers can use alternative routes to avoid traffic inconveniences, as suggested in the advisory for various traffic scenarios and potential jams on DND, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, and other key routes.
Traffic originating from Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15 and proceeding through Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk towards Jhundpura Chowk will easily reach its destination. Alternatively, Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15 via Rajnigandha Chowk is also a viable route.
In case of a traffic jam on the DND, vehicles traveling to Delhi from the Filmcity flyover near Dalit Prerna Sthal Gate No. 02 Sector 95 on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway can take various routes, such as DND, Chilla, or via Sector-18 climbing loop through Ashok Nagar.
Vehicles traveling from Jhundpura Chowk through Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk to Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15 can efficiently reach their destination via Jhundpura Chowk and proceed through Sector-8/10/11/12 Chowk.
If there is a traffic jam on the DND, drivers en route to Delhi through the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway or the MP-01 route can reach their destination via the Chilla red light.
Commuters heading from Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk to Harola Chowk can reach their destination using multiple routes, including Rohan Motors Tiraha, IGL Chowk Sector01, Golchakkar Chowk, or Ashok Nagar.
Those traveling from Harola Chowk to Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk can pass through Sector-16 Market from Harola Chowk to reach their intended destination.
If there is a traffic jam on Chilla or DND, vehicles coming from the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and heading to Delhi via DND, Chilla, or Mahamaya Flyover can reach their destination via Kalindi Kunj through Mahamaya Flyover.
Traffic originating from Golchakkar Chowk and proceeding via Rajnigandha Chowk towards Sector-18, 27, 37, and similar locations can continue their journey as usual.
If there is a traffic jam at the Chilla Red Light on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, vehicles heading towards Delhi can still reach their destination via DND.
To avoid traffic jams on the DND, drivers can take a detour from the Charkha roundabout to the Sector-94 underpass, then take the Mahamaya flyover to Sector-37. They can also opt to travel through Ashok Nagar to reach the destination via routes 18, 16, or 15.
