Kerala Embraces Heli-Tourism and Destination Weddings to Draw More Tourists

Kerala is strategically enhancing its tourism appeal by introducing heli-tourism in hill areas and positioning itself as an idyllic wedding destination, all while emphasizing responsible tourism and community welfare. Renowned for its breathtaking tourist spots, the state is making concerted efforts to attract more visitors through innovative approaches.

Kerala Tourism Director P B Nooh highlighted the state’s commitment to responsible tourism, ensuring that travelers engage responsibly while simultaneously contributing to the betterment of local communities. Nooh emphasized the importance of directing a portion of the expenditure towards the welfare of these communities.

Tourism plays a pivotal role in Kerala’s economy, and recent statistics underscore its significance. The state recorded a record-breaking 159.69 lakh visitors from within the country during the January-September 2023 period. In a bid to further enhance tourism, Nooh announced the launch of ‘Sky Escapes,’ a heli-tourism initiative aimed at fostering tourism in hilly regions through helicopter services.

To boost heli-tourism, the Kerala government is collaborating with private players, seeking to leverage the scenic beauty of the state’s hill areas. The introduction of helicopter services is expected to provide tourists with a unique and picturesque perspective of Kerala’s landscape.
